Q. What is the difference between the Ultra VPL and UltraPlus VPL Systems?
A. The Ultra VPL was launched in 2004 and has become the leading platform for Energist VPL treatments worldwide.
Introduced in the US in 2009, the UltraPlus VPL is an enhanced version of the Ultra, featuring a number of additional benefits including a 25,000 shot hair removal applicator, a third dedicated Acne applicator, and new software providing greater ease of use and additional treatment options and parameters.
With both Ultra and UltraPlus VPL, users can be assured of efficacy, reliability and value for money.
Q. What is the "package" you supply with a new system?
A. With each new system we supply a starter pack, containing a comprehensive user manual, optical coupling gel, and safety glasses for client and operator. Further marketing materials will vary according to region.
Q. What training is provided with VPL systems?
A. Full on-site product and clinical training is provided with all Energist products by Energist or Energist's approved regional providers. Please contact your regional Energist stockist for full details.
Q. What is the wave length of the Acne applicator on the UltraPlus system?
A. The Acne applicator on the UltraPlus has a dual band output, emitting 415nm and 630-950nm. This means that blue light is emitted at 415nm, which stimulates oxygen in the mitochondria, whilst simUltraneously emitting red light in the 630-950nm wave band, which soothes swelling. A combination of red and blue light has been scientifically proven to reduce acne.
Q. Can I treat Acne with the Ultra VPL System?
A. Yes - the Ultra will treat Acne very well, as we have seen from a number of clinical trials. This applicator operates at 530nm wave length.

Q. What cooling method do VPL systems use?
A. Water is far more efficient for cooling than air - due to the high energies and variable pulses offered by VPL systems. All VPL applicators are cooled using a dedicated water cooling system.
Q. Do I need cooling gel?
A. We recommend the use of optical coupling gel on the skin, not only for cooling, but also to ensure maximum treatment effectiveness.
Q. How many shots does it take to treat......?
A. The number of shots is shown in the user manual of the VPL system. This information can also be obtained from your local distributor.
Q. Can I treat all skin types?
A. We recommend that you treat only Fitzpatrick skin types 1-5 with the VPL systems.
Q. Do you have Clinical evidence? On what treatments?
A. Yes we do have clinical evidence on Hair Removal, Sun Damage, Acne and PDT. Please contact us if you require more evidence and we would be happy to discuss our findings with you.
Q. Do the Ultra and UltraPlus have FDA Clearance & CE Medical approval?
A. Yes - both systems have FDA Clearance and CE 0120 Medical approval
